D3Energy’s Floating Solar Array at Orange County’s Southern Regional Water Supply Facility Tour

Orange County Utilities SRWSF hosts the largest floating solar array in the Southeast United States at 1.2-megawatts.  This floating PV array is located at the on-site retention pond and is directly powering the water treatment facility.

This tour will include a close-up view of the floating array where attendees will learn the benefits and advantages of floating solar and how it benefits the facility and the community.

Attendees are required to wear closed-toed shoes.

Orlando Utility Commission’s Gardenia Innovation Center Tour

Orlando Utility Commission’s Gardenia Innovation Center Tour

Orlando Utilities Commission’s Gardenia Innovation Center is a unique operational facility that houses its research and development activities.  The center includes a water conservation demonstration and the Grid Integration Lab which integrates, EV Charging (Lvl 2, 3 and V2G), Fly Wheels, Flow Batteries and Floating Solar. This walking tour will include each facility, its scope, activities, and integrated technologies. It will also include an overview of OUC’s larger projects not included at the site, like the Substation Battery Project and 2 MW Floating Solar Array. The tour will conclude with a Q&A and discussion of OUC’s adoption of new technologies. Long pants and closed toed shoes preferred.

JST Manufacturing Center and Duke Energy Substation

JST would like to invite you to tour our manufacturing center in Lake Mary Florida. You will be able to see and learn about the processes of designing and building MV switchgear and MV Outdoor breakers during your visit. You will see first-hand the fabrication process for steel parts, the assembly of indoor and outdoor breakers, assembly and testing processes of the switchgear and finally the end of line testing required to ship equipment to your projects! We will also spend a short time going over some of the finer points and standards required when designing and building MV equipment.

During the second part of the tour, attendees will have a chance to view a Duke Energy 230kV Transmission & Distribution substation. Duke Energy Transmission Maintenance and Asset Management representatives will provide a technical overview of the substation design and be available to answer questions. 

Close-toed shoes are required for all attendees. Lunch will be provided.
