Zane Ball is the Chief Technology Officer for the nonprofit Open Compute Project Foundation. The Open Compute Project brings together more than 500 companies in the data center industry to collaborate on open data center technologies at the heart of data centers everywhere.
Dr. Ball has nealy three decades of experience in the development and enablement of silicon products and computing platforms for data center, AI, client computing, and foundry services.  Formerly a senior executive at Intel Corporation, he has played a pivotal role in shaping new technologies and industry standards. Ball currently serves on the board of directors of Napatech A/S and as a strategic advisor to Astera Labs.

Ball has a bachelor's degree, master's degree, and PhD in electrical engineering, all earned from Rice University. He also holds six patents in high-speed electrical design.
