Umair Zia is the Director of Electric Distribution Engineering at Eversource Energy. With a tenure dating back to 2017, Umair has been instrumental in spearheading a multitude of key initiatives. These include pivotal projects aimed at enhancing reliability and resiliency, integration of Distributed Energy Resources and Electric Vehicles into the distribution grid, and fostering workforce development through training programs and strategic collaborations with local academic institutions.

His visionary leadership in the realm of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence has led to the development of several cutting-edge, multi-award-winning tools, that have streamlined asset management and is providing invaluable insights and analytical prowess on a comprehensive suite of reliability metrics.

Prior to his tenure at Eversource, Umair held positions of leadership at the Potomac Electric Power Company in Washington D.C., in Electric Operations and Engineering.

 Umair holds a master's degree in Systems Engineering, a graduate certificate in Mechanical Engineering, and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, all earned at the University of Maryland, and a certificate in Disruptive Strategy from Harvard Business School-Online.

He proudly serves as a member of the board of directors for the Discovery Museum of Acton, Massachusetts.
