Sean James
At NVIDIA, Sean focuses on power, grid integration, and energy architecture for large-scale AI infrastructure and AI factories.
Sean works at the intersection of compute, power, and land, helping define how next-generation AI data centers secure energy, scale rapidly, and integrate with constrained electrical grids. His work spans high-density power architecture, grid-forming and behind-the-meter energy systems, battery energy storage, fuel cells, and strategies to accelerate time-to-power for AI deployments worldwide.
Before joining NVIDIA, Sean spent nearly two decades at Microsoft, where he held senior leadership roles in data center operations, construction, and technology commercialization. He led and scaled multiple next-generation data center programs, bridging early-stage R&D with production deployment across Microsoft’s global cloud footprint.
Sean began his career in hands-on data center operations and previously served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Fleet as an electrician. He holds multiple patents related to data center and energy systems and a degree in Information Technology.
Sean is a father of 3 sons, holds many patents related to datacenters and energy, and a degree in Information Technology.
