Richard Lam
Richard Lam has been at the forefront of new advancements in the energy sector for nearly 2 decades in a variety of advance technology roles within Southern California Edison.
Having developed significant experience in various Distributed Energy Resources such as EV’s, Residential & Distribution Energy Storage Systems, Richard has played a key role in integrating cutting-edge technologies to enhance grid reliability and sustainability. His technology expertise expanded in recent years into Wildfire Mitigation work in evaluating and identifying new technologies and capabilities to reduce SCE’s wildfire risk. This extended to the deployment and utilization of drones, AI image analytics, LiDAR, digital twins, fire suppression, remote sensing, and incipient fault detection.
In his latest role, he is has been driving Grid Edge application advancements as part of its AMI2.0 program. Partnering with Michael Stuber, the pair has been leading SCE's efforts within the Linux Foundation Energy to develop an interoperability specification for grid edge devices: GEISA, The Grid Edge Interoperability and Security Aliance.
