 Rekha Sharma has over 18 years of experience in the fields of energy markets, grid reliability as well as transmission & distribution analysis. In her current role as Director in Power Economics division at GE Vernova’s Consulting Services, Schenectady, USA, she leads techno-economic studies for integration of data centres, renewable generation in power grid. She works with hyperscalers co-locators, system integrators and utilities to innovate the industry roadmap. She is responsible for applied AI related initiatives and work closely with AI firms, DOE and GE Vernova internal teams. 

 

In her previous roles at CAISO, she successfully led the development of CAISO- Energy Imbalance Market and support grid operations, while also integrating hybrid energy sources including solar, wind and batteries into the Western American Grid. She led the Security Constraint Unit Commitments for Day Ahead and Hour Ahead and Real Time dispatches, Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR) rules and policies implementation. At ABB- Hitachi, she spearheaded distributed management system development and designed power plants design in Siemens AG. She has authored publications, led panels across the industry, contributed chapters to published books for electricity grid stability. She is a senior member of IEEE Power and Energy Society and actively take part in smart grid committee and working groups. She is active mentor in Women in Sustainability & Clean Energy.
