Praveen Dhanasekar

Supervisor Transmission Operations Engineering, Dominion Energy

Praveen Dhanasekar is a Supervisor of the ET Planning System Modeling team at Dominion Energy Virginia, specializing in electric transmission planning and power system modeling. He has played a role in enhancing transmission system models using node-breaker modeling for planning models and supporting PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Planning (RTEP) efforts. Praveen actively contributes to industry initiatives, including the NATF DER Modeling and Study Practices Project Team, and serves as Dominion Energy’s subject matter expert for NERC MOD standards.

Prior to joining Dominion Energy, Praveen worked at Schneider Electric, where he integrated control systems for microgrids and automated protection schemes for medium-voltage substations. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston, where his research focused on HVAC and microgrid modeling, as well as optimization programs for day-ahead scheduling and demand response.
