Patrick Cody
Patrick Cody is the Engineering Manager for the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) at National Grid, where he leads a team of power systems engineers focused on transforming utility operations through automation, data integration, and real-time control. With over two decades of experience in utility engineering and grid modernization, Patrick has been instrumental in moving ADMS from a conceptual innovation to a fully scaled, operational platform supporting outage management, distribution automation, and the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs).
Throughout his 21-year tenure at National Grid, Patrick has served in a variety of leadership roles spanning program management, engineering design, and smart grid execution. Most recently, he oversaw the strategic rollout of Volt/Var Optimization (VVO), Distribution SCADA, and digital substations as part of a $200 million grid modernization portfolio. His work has helped lay the technical and operational foundation for ADMS to scale across National Grid’s electric service territory.
An advocate for digital transformation and cross-functional collaboration, Cody continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in grid operations. He partners closely with stakeholders across engineering, IT, and operations to ensure that ADMS not only meets today’s reliability and efficiency needs but also serves as a cornerstone for future DERMS integration.
