Pat Lo
Pat Lo is a seasoned industry veteran with 16 years of experience in the power and utilities sector. As the National Power & Utilities Lead for Microsoft, Pat collaborates with utilities across Canada to co-innovate big-picture projects around the Energy Transition, empowering them to do more with less. He has been recognized as a National Expert, representing Canada at IEA working groups in both Power Systems and Flexibility Markets. Pat currently sits on the board of directors for Mohawk College’s Energy, Power, and Innovation Center (EPIC) as well as Design Lights Consortium (DLC). Pat's prior experience includes leading a $100M total project value active portfolio of Grid Innovation Projects at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), where he developed Canada’s First Distribution System Operator (DSO)/Flexibility Market pilot in partnership with Alectra and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). He also led the integration plan for hybrid resources (energy storage + generation pairings) into Ontario’s electricity markets, enabling an estimated $2B marketplace for these clean energy resources. At Hydro One, Pat led the board-approved 10-year Distribution Strategy focused on improving ratepayer reliability and affordability, identifying investments to improve reliability by 40% and productivity by $90M across 10 years. He also led its Non-wires Alternative Strategy (NWA) including the conceptualization of Ontario’s first regulator-approved application for residential energy storage. Pat is currently undertaking his executive MBA at the Ivey School of Business, furthering his leadership skills and knowledge to continue to drive innovation in the energy sector.
