Michael is a subject matter expert on energy storage, having joined TRC after completing his PhD focused on rechargeable batteries. He evaluates the technical and economic viability of present and emerging short- and long-duration energy storage technologies for applications that support increased renewable electricity generation and enable the transformation to a clean, resilient, and distributed electric power system. By connecting fundamental operating mechanisms of energy storage systems to the engineering scale, Michael provides a breadth of practical knowledge while also maintaining a perspective informed by business use cases.
