Max Luke
Max Luke is Director of Transmission & Wholesale Market Policy at National Grid, where he oversees the company's US policy and regulatory strategies related to interregional electric transmission, transmission permitting, transmission interconnection, and transmission innovation. He supports the company's regulated business units in New York and New England, and the company's competitive transmission developer, National Grid Ventures, in achieving policy and regulatory outcomes that align with National Grid's commitments to its customers. Prior to National Grid, he was Director of Business Development and regulatory affairs at VEIR, a venture-backed company developing the next generation of advanced, high-capacity power lines. He established VEIR’s early commercial traction with electric utility companies and achieved inclusion of low-loss superconductors in Department of Energy funding issuances and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rulemakings. Prior to VEIR, he was a Senior Consultant at NERA Economic Consulting, a principal researcher in the MIT Energy Initiative’s Utility of the Future study and a graduate student at MIT.
