Liang is an Industry Blackbelt in Microsoft Energy & Resources Industry with 20+ years’ tech implementation experience. She leads the digital transformation for power and utility companies through customer experience design, field worker engagement, next generation grid operations, asset management, and re-imaging the low carbon future. She practices Design Thinking by engaging stakeholders for innovation management, translating business outcomes into epic feature and user stories. She is experienced with load management, renewable forecasting and optimized decision support using ML/AI.  She works with utilities to develop ROI for their digital investment, backlog prioritization and roadmaps using 3 Horizon framework.

She completed the business envisioning to develop a data strategy for a major ISO to support its FERC 2222 readiness. She advised Exelon’s Handley Plant for their real-time IOT project to reduce generation downtime. She orchestrated a major energy provider’s customer transformation to become more pro-active in leveraging customer insights. Liang works on Microgrid to improve community resiliency. She was a business strategist for DTE Energy in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, she developed operational improvement strategy leveraging her AI analytical skills for predictive power outage restoration. Prior to DTE, she led the blueprint development for IBM’s strategy in renewable energy and grid integration. Liang is a senior IEEE member, a former advisor to IEEE Technology Engineering Management Society, member of the IEEE Energy Policy Committee and Smart Grid Standards groups.

Liang holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a MBA in Finance.

She is a Microsoft Champion Awards recepient and Microsoft Power and Utility Community Lead.
