Jose Medina leads AI and Innovation for NextEra Energy, Inc. In this role, he leads NextEra’s AI Hub, an organization staffed with a talented team of data scientists, engineers, and business leaders responsible for marshaling cutting-edge analytical AI, Generative AI, data, and human-centered design to fuel NextEra’s AI-enabled digital transformation.

Jose has been with NextEra Energy since 2008. He has held leadership positions representing a deep cross-section of the Energy industry including Power Generation, Power Delivery, Regulatory Affairs, Customer Service, and Business Management. His roles have spanned a variety of disciplines including Director of Power Generation Innovation & Technology, Head of Power Delivery Vegetation Management Operations, Director of Marketing & Technology, Manager of Regulatory Affairs, and a Strategic Operations role reporting to FPL’s Chief Operating Officer during which he earned his Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

Prior to joining NextEra Energy, Jose spent 8 years at Motorola based in Chicago where he held several roles of increasing responsibility – including roles in Corporate Audit Services, Management Consulting, Finance, and IT Project Management where he led strategic finance, technology, and marketing initiatives throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Jose earned an MBA with honors from DePaul University in Chicago with a concentration in Econometrics, an undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and obtained his Applied Data Science Program certification from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Jose resides in Jupiter, Florida with his wife Sara and their two boys, Luis and Noah. In his free time, he enjoys time with family, mentoring, travel and surfing.
