Johnathon Hughes is the Manager of Distribution and Subtransmission Planning Program at Southern California Edison. He oversees the end-to-end development of the annual 10-year study plan where his team coordinates the planning activities of multiple teams across the company to determine the future load and DER landscape, develop the 10-year circuit-level forecast, and initiate capital upgrade projects to mitigate forecasted overloads. Johnathon has led the development and deployment of multiple state-of-the-art software tools that are automated and pipelined with emphasis on the end-user experience to ensure the planning teams more effectively understanding the future grid needs. Southern California Edison is using its forecasting software to produce more granular forecasts, develop a profile and scenario-based planning system, and is leading the way to an all-electric future.
