Jack Wallace III P.E.

Jack Wallace is a Principal Consultant at Dash Power Partners, based near Nashville, TN. Prior to joining Dash, he spent over 12 years as a Senior Substation and Smart Grid Engineer at Patterson & Dewar Engineers (Gallatin, TN office), preceded by six years at Leidos. 

Jack is an electrical engineer with 18 years of experience in the utility industry. His expertise spans substation design up to 345kV, communication systems, substation and distribution automation, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. At P&D, his work covered the full project lifecycle — evaluation, design, deployment, testing, and commissioning — across SCADA systems, communication networks, intelligent electronic devices (IEDs), and smart grid technologies, along with all phases of substation design, construction management, and testing. Substation design was the primary focus of his career, and he has taken projects from concept through energization. 

On the SCADA side, Jack has served clients as a technical advisor for master station implementation, field device integration, and full end-to-end system deployment. His communications background includes network design, fiber optic system specification and design, and integration of wireless systems for backhaul and "last mile" connectivity. He has implemented substation automation using the IEC 61850 GOOSE protocol for protection and control, and distribution automation systems incorporating reclosers, capacitor bank controls, regulator controls, line sensors, and switches across a range of industry-standard protocols. 

Prior to becoming an engineer, Jack served as a U.S. Navy Electronics Technician specializing in wireless communication systems, power systems, and radar equipment. He holds a B.S.E.E. jointly from Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville and is a Licensed Professional Engineer.
