Gopakumar Gopinathan serves as a Senior Advisor specializing in Artificial Intelligence within Power Systems Technology Development at CAISO, where he plays a key role in efforts to modernize grid operations through the application of AI.
With 18+ years of experience in the energy industry, he has led cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions leveraging his expertise in data science, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
He led several technical projects to improve outage coordination, enhance RAS modeling, conduct contingency analysis, and optimize market operations.
He holds M.S degree in Data Analytics (Texas A&M University) and in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems, Arizona State University); is a licensed Professional Engineer in California; and an active member of IEEE and IEEE Power Engineering Society, showcasing his commitment to excellence in the field of energy and data science.
