Ben Ealey
Ben Ealey is a Senior Principal Team Lead at EPRI, focused on DER data, communications, and interoperability—working at the intersection of grid codes, standards, field deployment, and real-world utility operations. His work centers on helping utilities reduce integration risk, avoid costly rework, and transition from “connectable” DERs to DERs that communicate predictably, when it matters, and without unexpected integration challenges.
In this space, Ben is an active leader in industry standards development, serving as the lead for the Interoperability and Cybersecurity focus area within the ongoing revision of IEEE 1547-2018. He has also led development of interoperability guidance in IEEE 1547.2 and IEEE 1547.9, helping translate high-level requirements into actionable implementation guidance. Through his standards work, Ben focuses on ensuring that interoperability requirements are technically sound, implementable, and aligned with the realities of utility deployment.
