Austin Wysor is Data Device Manager at Southern Linc, Southern Company's Private LTE network, where he leads the engineering team that certifies and tests every data device operating on the utility's private network, from sensors and network lighting controls to smart meters and industrial routers. His work is the gate that confirms a device connects and performs reliably before a utility commits to large-scale deployment. He brings a strong record in mobile computing, machine-to-machine, and IoT product development for utility and industrial applications, and works across vendors and internal teams to bring new connected devices into operation. On this panel he speaks to the utility-side reality of putting new monitoring hardware on the grid: connectivity, certification, and what it takes to move a device from trial to field-wide use.
