Aram Shumavon
Aram Shumavon has been working on systems transitions for more than 25 years with a special focus on technology-driven disruption of regulated natural monopolies. A veteran energy market economist with deep subject matter expertise in energy market design, utility procurement practices, and distributed energy resource (DER) integration planning, Mr. Shumavon has provided services to national and regional governments, non-governmental organizations, and corporations, including startups and publicly traded companies. For more than a decade, Aram worked at the California Public Utilities Commission where he served as an advisor and managed the Long-Term Resource Adequacy and Long-Term Procurement proceedings. This included netting authorized procurement targets for combustion-based bulk power generation assets against the state's DER programs, RPS requirements, and transmission investments while ensuring resource adequacy as the state recovered from the energy crisis and began its path towards 100% renewable energy.
As founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kevala, Aram has led the company from its inception and initial product design, and scaled the organization to provide services to some of the world’s largest electric utilities and regulatory entities where he continues to provide guidance and counsel to senior decision makers navigating the energy transition.
