Alex Portilla
Alex Portilla is the Director of Clean Energy Technology Platforms at Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), where he leads the development and deployment of technology platforms that are foundational to future DSO functionality. His portfolio includes PG&E's Distributed Energy Management System (DERMS) and Data Access Platforms aimed at creating value from DERs including customer-sited resources and load flexibility to enable a more dynamic and distributed grid. Alex has been instrumental in advancing PG&E’s ability to integrate DERs into operations, including leading the utility’s DERMS product strategy, launching the Flexible Service Connection program, deploying California's first 100% renewable community microgrid and pioneering the Remote Grids as a wildfire mitigation strategy. His work sits at the intersection of strategy, program design, and technology implementation, aligning innovation with California’s policy goals and PG&E’s evolving role as a platform operator. With deep experience in DER integration and grid modernization, Alex brings valuable perspective on the operational and organizational shifts needed to support the DSO transition.
