Reaching the Effectiveness Frontier: Metrics to Support Resilience Performance Incentives

As utilities make significant investments in grid resilience, how can we better measure whether those investments are delivering meaningful results? Building on SEPA and Baringa’s dual-metric resilience framework, this panel will explore how practical resilience metrics can help utilities and regulators move beyond traditional reliability measures to better evaluate performance and guide investments. The discussion will also examine approaches to designing and developing resilience metrics, engaging stakeholders and adopting metrics, and implementing them to make better operational and investment decisions. Panelists will also explore how advances in data, modeling, and technology are helping utilities anticipate and mitigate outages, accelerate restoration, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for customers.
