LCRA’s Journey to Delivering Robust, Reliable MC-PTT with Private LTE Networks
LCRA operates at significant scale- managing the lower 600 miles of the Texas Colorado River, delivering water to more than 1.4 million people, and supplying power to over 30 retail electric cooperatives and municipalities across the state. In partnership with L3Harris, which designed and built the first converged LMR-with-LTE radios, LCRA is enabling cross-network communications from a single device, expanding interoperability between legacy LMR and private LTE networks. This approach supports robust and reliable MCPTT services, bringing together the best of the LTE and LMR worlds. New dual-mode PTT devices operate across both US Band 106 and LMR, supporting technology flexibility and a smooth evolution to private LTE, while optimizing performance and flexibility. LCRA will also discuss how it is supporting other entities (coops, IOUs, etc.) to provide services which help strengthen reliability across the region.
