Asset Management

As utilities address aging infrastructure, increasing grid complexity, and rising DER penetration, asset management is evolving toward more intelligent, data-driven approaches. This session brings together perspectives from SDG&E (west coast) and PSEG (east coast) to demonstrate how utilities are transforming asset management by turning operational data into actionable insights.

SDG&E will showcase how high-resolution, time-synchronized data and digital models of distribution circuits provide enhanced visibility into asset condition and system behavior across critical equipment - including transformers, circuit breakers, and relays. These capabilities support earlier identification of abnormal conditions, faster fault localization, and more informed maintenance and replacement decisions, improving reliability and reducing operational risk.

PSEG will highlight how a standardized data architecture and an integrated data platform - enables scalable analytics across distribution assets and operations. Through enterprise data access and visibility, teams gain actionable insights into peak load conditions, phase imbalance, overload trends, and capacitor bank performance, supporting both real-time decision-making and long-term asset strategy and planning.

Together, these approaches illustrate a practical, end-to-end framework - from data governance to analytics deployment - for modernizing asset management. The session will also share measurable outcomes, including improved asset utilization, reduced outage impacts, and enhanced operational efficiency.

Attendees will gain a clear roadmap for applying data analytics and digital transformation to unlock intelligent insights, enabling more resilient, efficient, and future-ready operations.
