Outside the Box and Beyond the Meter: Win DOE-Funded Prizes for Your Energy Solutions
Could your innovative ideas be the money-winning solutions we’re looking for? At the Grid Edge Intelligence Knowledge Hub, attendees will learn about the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Electricity American-Made Beyond the Meter: Energy Storage Integration Prize (“Beyond the Meter Prize”). This $3.3 million two-phase competition is designed to accelerate advancements in integrating behind-the-meter (BTM) technologies with energy storage systems (ESS). This competition challenges companies and coalitions to showcase their existing products and strategic plans for integrating and managing BTM grid-edge technologies with ESS with the goal of creating consumer-centric turnkey solutions.
During this session, can learn more about the prize pool—$3.3 million in cash prizes and $800K in vouchers to work with a national lab—and how their winning solution will help shape the future of energy usage in the U.S.
The competition emphasizes the pivotal role of ESS in optimizing and integrating distributed energy resources (DERs). Through collaboration with grid-edge technology vendors, teams will develop solutions that maximize the value and flexibility of DERs for both consumers and the grid. This prize aligns with OE’s Energy Storage Division’s broader mission to reduce complexity and cost for ESS integration across all levels of the grid, including generation, transmission, distribution, and consumer applications. By focusing on technology-neutral solutions, the competition aims to identify scalable approaches for improving DER control, integration, and interoperability.
