Driving the need for greater resiliency utilities existing standalone FLISR systems are trending towards end of life. Successful modernization will rely on having more integrated approaches to their platforms such as ADMS to allow for more cross functional use cases (I.E. DERMS). This will allow FLISR platforms to utilize more functions of the grid to improve their resilience. Though this must be done with care and precision, as most grid modernization platforms aren’t standardized. One vendor’s definition of FLISR functionality often doesn’t match another. Therefore, ultimately a structured implementation framework that ensures that safety, operational, and resiliency goals are met to ensure operational excellence is needed for these conversions. This presentation will go over lessons learned and give a forward view of how to successfully navigate the challenges with integrating FLISR into a common platform.
