As utilities strive to support infrastructure growth and grid modernization, the imperative to secure and enhance new and existing systems grows ever more critical. This session will delve into the role of digital assurance for grid systems, leveraging not just  cybersecurity controls and designs, but applying supply chain risk management and Cyber-Informed Engineering (CIE) across assets and operations. These strategies, which have been tested and refined through technical assistance funded by the DOE Grid Deployment Office, can expediate transformative projects, empowering utilities to meet their modernization goals through risk-based mitigation approaches.

In this session, we will explore the challenges motivating the need for digital assurance, actionable capabilities utilities can apply, and real-world examples of how these approaches advance grid modernization efforts and enhance the cyber-physical security of their systems. Participants will gain insights into the implementation of security solutions for digital controls, risk management for non-domestic critical energy infrastructure, and the application of technical tools for cyber and supply chain inspection. These strategies are designed to identify high-risk areas, evaluate hardware and software for operational deployments, and provide actionable mitigation recommendations. Additionally, participants will learn about  near-term and long-term strategies and various stakeholder roles and responsibilities in areas of policy development, technical tools implementation, and digital supply chain risk management (SCRM) to bolster overall security mechanisms.

By attending this session, utilities will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to enhance energy security, develop tailored procurement strategies, and ensure the integrity of their systems through robust digital assurance practices. Join us to build a secure path for the future growth of our nation's critical infrastructure.
