Up close with SCE's long-term distribution planning tool
Electric utilities will require new system planning tools to be able to better predict where, when, and how much electrification is projected to impact the electric grid. In addition, as customer loads become more flexible and mobile, more granularity and volume of data of the grid information is required, translating to a need for scalable, high-fidelity computing systems.
Southern California Edison will share its distribution system planning tools roadmap and experience in developing a platform that integrates planning for capacity and asset-driven grid needs with advanced optimization. With this platform, SCE aims to achieve grid solutions that can address reliability, affordability, equity, and resilience and meet the growing and evolving challenges with large-scale electrification to decarbonize the California grid.
