Alabama Power Company's AMI Management Systems team is using AMI Voltage Data to validate and correct Transformer-Meter Linking in GIS Mapping and ADMS Modeling. Through the use of a Data Science model, APC is able to not only identify mislinked meters, but even to predict the correct transformer in many of these cases.

The time savings in GIS / Model corrections when starting from a predicted correct linkage is significant. Utilizing non-spatial (voltage) data ensures that this validation process is not impacted by meters with incorrect latitude/longitude data - which is important, as many mislinked meters are the result of incorrect location information.

Correct Transformer-Meter Linking is increasingly paramount, as APC continues to run ADMS Advanced Applications (built on Distribution Power Flow analysis) and Outage Alerts -- both of which systems cannot properly function without a high degree of distribution system model accuracy.
