Reliability and Resilience , Storms and Wildfires

The frequency and severity of weather events are increasing, impacting the reliability and resilience of power systems, leading to major infrastructure damage, extended service interruptions, and significant restoration costs. Utilities are implementing a variety of initiatives to improve their readiness against these events, including hardening foundational infrastructure, deploying advanced technologies, and improving processes.

This panel session will discuss the experiences, solutions, and lessons learned by three large investor-owned utilities —  CenterPoint Energy, Oncor, and AEP Texas —  to improve their readiness against major weather events and mitigate impacts on reliability and resilience, in the context of the rapidly growing economy of Texas.
