Distribution workforce of the future: needs and solutions
As modern power delivery systems continue to evolve with the increasing adoption of distributed energy resources, electric vehicles and data centers, utilities are at the brink of electric load growth not seen since the adoption of air conditioning in the 1950s and 60s. The successful implementation of these initiatives requires new methodologies, computational tools, and solutions to plan modern and future distribution grids. Most importantly, it requires that distribution planning, reliability, and related organizations are ready and have the necessary resources, skills, and capabilities to ensure that they can meet these short and long-term needs.
This presentation will discuss the importance of organizational readiness for the energy transition; electric utility workforce trends; existing and emerging workforce needs; strategies and solutions implemented by electric utilities and other industries; lessons learned and success stories; and recommendations.
