Case study: Implementation of OKR methodology in electric utilities

In 2023, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) continued its path of success and excellence, achieving the highest annual revenues and operating profits in its history. DEWA also came in the top global position in more than 10 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in its areas of work, surpassing leading utility companies in the European Union and the US across various indicators. 

To meet targets and ensure continuous growth, DEWA Transmission Division introduced Objectives and Key Results (OKR) as a strategic planning tool for goal setting across the organization.

The initiative started in 2023 where three themes were chosen as strategic pillars: Sustainable Business, Digital Excellence, and Competitive Human Capital. Under each theme, we developed a list of business objectives clearly formulated with targets in value and time, some going till 2028. The objectives were later broken down into key results.

In this session, panelists will share the details of the project, the lessons learned, and its successes and pitfalls.
