Bulk Power, and the distribution grid, are being impacted now and into the future by proliferation of renewable resources and distributed energy resources. In this context, FERC order 2222 impacts primarily bulk power Markets, but also has impacts on the distribution operations and the emerging constructs such as DSOs.  In this session we will review these impacts and resulting trends.

Distribution System Operators will be enabled to manage distribution reliability and power quality under the DSO construct via active DER Aggregations, aka Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), third-party aggregators, and management of grid services.  Bulk Power Operators require increased levels of flexible resources to provide necessary grid services, such as ramping, balancing energy, and reserves, to support transmission grid operations.  And both must work together to coordinate and ensure reliability across the entire grid.  Come and learn of the impacts and ways to address them.
